Kellanova Operations Supervisor in Pikeville, Kentucky

As Operations Supervisor at Kellanova, you will be responsible for supervising hourly employees and executing production and logistics plans and overall operations of assigned area/shift to include: warehouse, labor relations, production, site security, quality, safety and regulatory compliance. This position works a 13-hour shift with every other weekend off, and must be willing to work night shift (6p-7a). We value your insights and will be counting on you to supervise the execution of production and logistics plans through operators and other hourly labor in production and warehouse functions.

Working out of our Pikeville plant, you will have the opportunity to use your leadership and communication skills to encourage teamwork and generate ideas while focusing on results and process improvement. As well as working effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, while ensuring your professionalism and sense of urgency.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Great Leadership –  Responsible for team development of employees to ensure proper mixing, machining, packaging and logistics in assigned areas according to targeted specification, to achieve total quality, as well as help develop new operations supervisors in all responsibilities and promote a positive attitude.

  • Production Logistics –You will be responsible for directing and guiding operators and their activities for assigned area/shift in the execution of production and/or logistics plants. You may be used as Maintenance Supervisor relief as needed. Ensure achievement of all area/shift KPIs; ensure adherence to and continuous improvement for all areas.

  • Talent Management – Responsible for supporting talent management process for hourly employees. Ensure Diversity and Inclusion meets / exceeds corporate standards. Proactively engage in the development and training of hourly labor and support such plans developed by plant leadership. Responsible for support of lean training as directed by operations manager for assigned area/shift. Ensure adherence to all standard work processes, including LEAN processes.

  • Process Improvement - Participate in the development of and implements plans and policies to ensure compliance in all areas of responsibility. Operates production lines in accordance with FDA guidelines, good manufacturing practices and HACCP/SQF program guidelines. Ensure Food Safety compliance by making sure plants are in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen control, pest control, guidelines followed. Ensure compliance with food safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with employee safety policies and procedures.

  • Effective Problem Solving - Responsible for problem solving process to resolve and/or mitigate those operational issues result in negative performance to plan as determined by the established escalation process. Maintain understanding of processes and functional interdependencies. Recognize and escalate issues identified as potential risks to plant performance as well as opportunities for improvement.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • GED plus substantial related work experience

  • Advanced proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook); SAP experience is a plus

  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage people, lead and motivate others

  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Must be able to effectively function in a union environment and promote positive labor relations; prior experience working in a union environment is a plus

  • Prior processing, packing and mechanical experience is a plus
