Kellanova Senior Employee Relations Specialist in Battle Creek, Michigan

As a Senior Employee Relations Specialist based out of our Headquarters office location in Battle Creek, MI or Chicago, IL, you will work as part of the Employee Relations team within Legal & Compliance. In this role, you’ll partner with various internal stakeholders to propel business growth by deploying employee relations expertise. Using your exemplary problem-solving skills, you will provide solutions and recommendations to counsel business partners and employees. You will mitigate risk by providing solutions and recommendations that align with our values.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Investigation – You will review and investigate escalated reports of potential policy violations. You must have great interpersonal skills, sound judgment, unquestionable integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to clear documentation. We are looking for an HR subject matter expert on investigation.

  • Consulting – With the acumen of a trusted advisor, you will provide consultation to varying levels of management and organizational stakeholders regarding employee relations matters. This includes performance management, business conduct, terminations, restructures, and HR policies, guidelines, and practices. You will also facilitate engagement activities such as stay interviews, analyze employee feedback and recommend action plans.

  • Case Management – As the HR subject matter expert, you’ll partner with people on discipline, performance improvement and separation documentation. With an expert eye, you’ll also track and interpret trends in employee relations to proactively identify issues, provide evidence-based recommendations, and develop solutions.

  • Policy Development and Interpretation – You will develop and interpret employment policies and practices, research and investigate concerns from internal stakeholders. In addition, you will provide coaching and recommendations to people leaders and employees. This will be done in accordance with company policies, guidelines and applicable laws that effectively promote positive employee relations.

  • Training – You will also create and deliver training on HR best practices. As a trainer, you will partner to provide training to varying levels of management and organizational stakeholders regarding employee relations matters.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • High School diploma with extensive related experience; Associate’s Degree and significant related education or experience or a combination of higher education and experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be proficient in English.

  • Experience across HR functions, Employee Relations and related disciplines with strength in internal investigation and policy development. Experience with labor relations in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.

  • PHR/SPHR or equivalent certification is an asset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability to work from our Battle Creek, MI Headquarters or Chicago location in a hybrid model with weekly in-office days .
